Counterfeit
This last weekend we started a new series at Revolution Church. I have been waiting to do this one for a while to really get at the heart of what plagues all of us and that is idolatry. All of us make something other than Jesus ultimate in our life and need him to blast us out of our pride. It was a great weekend and we had some great response to the message. In the sermon I asked four questions regarding how to we get at our idols. I wanted to post those questions here for any that want to follow up with these questions. They are:
1. Has any good thing become a god thing?
2. Has something or someone besides Jesus become ultimate in your heart?
3. Is there something or someone that you cannot live without or if it were taken away then you would not know who you are anymore?
4. Who or what “rules” your behavior, Jesus or a counterfeit?
Also I wanted to post my sermon notes on here so that you could see the scriptures we talked about. I hope that these are useful for you in your search to find those things that rob you of your affection for Jesus. I know for me this has become a regular occurrence as God continues to mold and shape my heart around Jesus.

I don’t think most people really understand exactly what idolatry is, I love this making easy for people (and myself) to to really engage with God to kill any idols in our lives. Its a big deal for me to ask God to search my heart because Im not wanting to give up what he finds, but we must do it to have a right relationship, Thanks Jason. I just got the new edition of Overcoming Sin and Temptation by John Owens, cant wait for my class to end to really get into this book, Glad your doing great in GA, later.
