The first 31

I have a confession to make: I have never really read through Proverbs nor really studied them.  Until now.  As ’09 was coming to a close I continually kept sensing from God that He wanted me to read through this rich book and study each one for the first 31 days of January.  The book of Proverbs is all about attaining wisdom and living a life on integrity before God and others.  Plus there is 31 chapters so it makes for great reading in a month of 31 days.

Then I saw this post by JR Vassar and it had Bible reading plans on it.  I immediately went to it and found one that would send me a Proverb a day starting on January 1st and continue throughout the month.  Well, I am on day 2 and God has already began to floor me in 2010.  The first two chapters were so timely for me in this season of my life as I enter into my new role at Revolution Church.  I am sitting here in the airport waiting to fly to ATL and God has spoken to me so clearly as if He is some kind of insider into this situation.  It is almost like God planned all of this (enter sarcasm here).

God and his Word are timeless and yet they are so timely.  This is one of the main reasons that I love Jesus.  He is sovereign and good.  He is all together infinitely powerful and omniscient.  He blows me away with himself.  I love that Jesus is working things out for the good of those that love Him and all I have to do is trust that.

So what are you doing for your first 31 days in 2010?  I would love to have you read along with me through the book of Proverbs and see what we can both learn as we seek out wisdom in the fear of the Lord.  You can find it here.
